I was a little nervous at first. Starting 10 September, I set out to meet residents across Haringey and Islington to test our Future Now Empowered model. Its a spin-out Social Enterprise idea from Future Now Partners all about community energy so the first engagements are always going to be will people like it? Will it work for people?
The first few doors barely responded — people were busy working from home or just in their own heads. You get that feeling of is this going to work… but you keep on going until you get to actually speak to someone right?
Then, one guy actually stopped to chat. He had time to listen, and that’s where it all started. From that conversation, the energy shifted, and I began to see genuine interest building.
Highlights from the day:
- Launched our very first community survey initiative
- Gathered rich stories and insights from residents
- Saw early validation of the FNE model taking shape
