Future Now Empowered is a social enterprise spin-out from Future Now Partners, delivering Utilities as a Service by sourcing funding, curating solutions and managing community-owned green infrastructure, while helping communities form their own Community Interest Company (CIC) and appropriate structures to ensure local infrastructure ownership and governance. We bundle the best available technologies into tailored packages for each community, oversee installation and maintenance and build in ongoing performance upgrades.

Ownership of the assets stays with the community through the community’s Community Interest Company, while Future Now Empowered ensures predictable, affordable and sustainable energy as a managed service.

By working at the scale of 200–500 homes, we unlock the optimum balance. Big enough to achieve economies of scale with solutions like community batteries, yet small enough to stay practical, local and community-owned.

We are targeting 80–90% savings on energy costs for communities, ensuring sustainable electricity and heat at ultra-low cost indefinitely.

How The Future Now Empowered System Works

🌍 Start Together

We come together as a community, apply for grants and install the infrastructure. From day one, bills drop close to zero as we use our own supply. Everyone chips in a small amount per month to keep the system healthy and reliable — it’s ours, so we all look after it.

⚡ Build the Pot

Any shortfall in infrastructure payments is covered by our community pot — fair, simple and shared. For the first 1–5 years, depending on the grants we win, households add about £75/month. That’s about half the average bill and it’s actually an investment — once the infrastructure is paid off, the community owns it.

🔄 Grow the Movement

The pot doesn’t stop. It helps the next community get started. Each new community makes the pot bigger, faster and stronger, until we don’t even need grants anymore. Once your system is paid off, you’re only paying the small monthly maintenance fee — but you can keep contributing £20 or more to the pot to help the next community.
